LA VIA DEL RESPIRO
Identita’: percorso finale dell’essere che cerca l’essenza.
E’ così che si puo’ sintetizzare questo percorso di Maria Saggiomo presente con le sue opere a dal .
L’artista in questo viaggio non nega la parte d’ombra ma è tesa verso la luce. Questa fondamentale poetica delle “ombre", cosi’ profondamente sviluppata dalle avanguadie artistiche nei primi anni del ‘900, e corroborata dai lavori di Freud ed Jung, è qui indicata , in questo cammino, in una positivita’ diretta alla natura.
Il tema dell’enigma e dell’introspezione è oggi da piu’ parti risolto con uno sguardo gia’ caro ai romantici, con materia e spirito, natura e spirito saldamente uniti nel superamento della fredda ragione (Shelling).
Ancor piu’ nell’ attualita’ del virtuale (isolamento razionale) questo vitale ed imperioso richiamo si fa impellente.
Saggiomo inaugura, pero’, in questo contesto, un rapporto fisico : diviene ramo, frutto, cenere, colore.
La profondita’ del suo linguaggio sta proprio nel porre l’ essenza (che non è legata ne’ ai sensi ne’ alla forma) a convivere con la materia, trasformandola e tramutandola in azione: il respiro.
Gia’ dalle prime tele emerge questo anelito trasformatore: quando con il colore non definisce; quando trasfigura il mondo vegetale ; quando la sua luce pittorica diviene tangibile od opaca e fluttuante.
Identita’ dunque tra prassi ed intenzioni.
Identita’ tra segno e sogno.
Identita’ tra trasparenza e fisicita’.
Identita’ tra colore e parola, tra cielo e mare, fra cenene e ramo, tra fuoco e neve.

Identity: The final path of a human being looking for true essence.This is how we can synthesize Maria Saggiomo's work, in which shewelcomes darkness but mainly tries to show the light.The fundamental poetics of "shadows", extensively developed by the avant-garde art in the early 1900's, and corroborated by the work of Freud and Jung, is in Maria Saggiomo's work, represented in a positive way, inspired by nature.The topics of enigma and introspection, have already been interpreted by different schools of thought, such as Romanticism, coming to the conclusion that matter and spirit as well as nature and spirit are firmly united in overcoming pure rationality (Shelling).In today's virtual world, rationally isolated, this vital and imperious call becomes even more urgent, and it is in this context, that Maria Saggiomo opens the way to a physical relation with art: by becoming branch, fruit, ash, color.The intensity of her art lies in being able to combine essence with matter, in order to produce an action: breathing.This desire to transform emerges in her early paintings:when the artist uses colors not only to show the reality of the object, but to interpret it, representing therefore it's spiritual and emotional quality; when the plant world is transfigured by her art; when the light in her paintings becomes tangible or opaque and fluctuating.
